Nancy
A. Abell
Chief
Financial Officer

Ms. Nancy Abell is the
Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She was appointed to this position on
July 5, 1998. As the CFO, she is responsible for planning, analysis,
and control of Center resources, specifically the development,
implementation and administration of the Goddard system of resources
management and financial control. In this capacity, she also leads the
Office of the Chief Financial Officer (Code 150) at the Center, which
includes the Regional Finance Office and the Program Analysis Office.
Ms. Abell has extensive
experience in resources and financial management, having held various
financial and resources management positions at the Center. She began
her professional career in 1972 as a financial analyst, responsible for
planning, executing, monitoring and controlling financial resources for
various organizations. In 1979, she became a financial manager,
accountable for the financial resources of the Space Sciences
Directorate. She became a senior program analyst in the Office of the
Comptroller in 1981, responsible for independent review, assessment,
and analysis of programmatic and resources requirements for major GSFC
programs. In 1990, she became the Chief of the Administration and
Resources Management Office within the Space Sciences Directorate,
serving as the senior resources authority for the Directorate. She
became GSFC's Deputy Comptroller in 1995, and subsequently Deputy CFO
of the Center.
Ms.
Abell holds a Bachelor's degree in business and public administration
from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in general
administration from the University of Maryland University College.
Nancy and her husband
Mike reside in Highland, Maryland. They have three children and two
grandchildren.
