Valorie Burr
Associate Director for Acquisition, Management Operations

Ms. Burr has been at the Goddard Space Flight Center since 1973. She
began her career in a clerical position for the Flight Projects
Directorate. She was selected to be a Contract Specialist in 1980 for
the Institutional Procurement Office, where she began her professional
career in contracting. From October 1984 to November 1987, she served
as Contracting Officer and Senior Specialist for the POES/GOES
programs, and was then selected as the Deputy Procurement Manager for
the Space and Earth Sciences Directorate. In February 1989, she was the
Procurement Manager for the Space Sciences Directorate, after the
Center separated the two science communities. From there, she
successively served as Associate Chief of the Program Procurement
Division and Procurement Operations Division, becoming the Division
Chief in March 2002. She has been the Procurement Officer and a member
of the Management Operations Senior Staff since January 2003.
Ms. Burr is a graduate of the SESCDP program, and she has completed
numerous assignments outside the procurement organization, including
details in Information Technology and Services Division, the Applied
Engineering and Technology Directorate, and the Office of Human
Resources and Education at Headquarters. She is member of the Center's
Diversity Council and Standing Awards Committee. She has led and
participated in a host of special programs and projects, including the
Agency's Zero-Based Review, Strategic Resources Review, Year 2K
Transition, Full Cost Accounting, Center Recruiting, Equal Opportunity,
and Leadership Training.
Ms. Burr received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from
Bowie State University in 1994, and has completed various technical,
leadership, and interpersonal development courses.
