Diane Williams
Director, Management Operations

Ms. Diane E. Williams is Director of Management
Operations at the Goddard Space Flight Center. She oversees the
business and institutional support and staff services necessary for the
successful accomplishment of the Center's main mission activities. The
unique scientific and engineering nature of those activities requires
continuous assessment of the allocation and configuration of the
support functions and resources to assure maximum effectiveness for a
technical community of over 7,000. She also oversees provision of the
specialized operational support involved in the design, construction,
and maintenance of facilities and other general management services for
an industrial complex.
Ms. Williams began her federal career at Goddard in 1966 in the
Administrative and Technical Services Directorate (later to become the
Management Operations Directorate). She served in various accountant
and resource and financial analyst capacities during her early career.
Throughout the 1980's, she held management positions in the Engineering
Directorate serving as Head, Financial Management Branch, as well as
Associate Chief and Chief of the Engineering and Space Technical
Resources Management Office. In 1995, Ms. Williams joined the Flight
Programs and Projects Directorate as Deputy Director of Flight Projects
for Planning and Business Management. In that position, she served as
the principle operating official for the Directorate in the areas of
new project planning and the management of all resources. In 2002, she
came full circle to once again serve in the Management Operations
Directorate in her current capacity as Director of.
Ms. Williams is the recipient of a Presidential Rank
Award as Meritorious Executive, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and
GSFC Award of Merit. She has also received numerous group achievement
awards during her career.
