    Sharon Wong is the Special Assistant for Diversity at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland, where she leads the diversity efforts to effect full utilization of the diverse workforce. Prior to this, she worked as the Software Integration and Test Engineer on the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Core System (ECS) Integration and Test program at GSFC. Ms. Wong has been with NASA for 18 years, transferring in August 1998 to GSFC from the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida where she served as Lead Software Integration engineer. Ms. Wong also spent two years at NASA Headquarters in the Office of Space Flight working on Strategic Planning and Outreach for the Human Exploration and Development of Space Enterprise (including the Space Shuttle and International Space Station Programs).

    Ms. Wong's work assignments include serving as the Asian Pacific American (APA) Program Manager within the Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEOP) Office at NASA-KSC, and serving on the NASA-KSC Diversity Policy Council. Ms. Wong has received the NASA-KSC Equal Opportunity Award and the Astronaut Silver Snoopy Award.

    Ms. Wong is currently the President of the Greater Washington, DC chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA). She is a Past President of the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC), and the first President to serve more than one term. Ms. Wong holds leadership positions in other organizations that work to improve the lives of APAs and to increase participation of APAs in civic and public service, and is a member of the Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN).

    Ms. Wong also has strong interest in women's issues and serves as a Commissioner on the State of Maryland Commission for Women. She is also a member of Women in Technology (WIT), and a lifetime member of Federally Employed Women (FEW).

    Ms. Wong received her B.S. in Physics from Wheeling College in West Virginia and her M.S. in Engineering Systems Analysis from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
