Shannon June 1, 1995 Goddard Space Flight Center Greenbelt, Md 20771 (Phone: 301/286-8955) GOES-J UPDATE #4 Thursday, June 1, 1995 3 p.m. EDT The last scheduled burn of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-J) apogee motor occurred yesterday. The burn was officially termed an apogee adjust maneuver and was designed to complete the satelliteÕs insertion into a geosynchronous orbit. With the completion of this adjustment, GOES-J will now be referred to as GOES-9. According to GOES-J Project Manager Marty Davis, the next big events will occur tonight with the magnetometer boom deployment and the solar array deployment. GOES-J was built for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration under technical guidance and project management by the Goddard Space Flight Center.
