Shannon June 7, 1995 Goddard Space Flight Center Greenbelt, Md 20771 (Phone: 301-286-8955) GOES-J UPDATE #5 Wednesday June 7, 1995 2 p.m. The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-J) continued to perform without a hitch during the weekend. The satellite went through an initial activation of its instruments on Friday and a scheduled solar sail deployment on Saturday. Mission managers are very pleased with the GOES-J operations during the first two weeks of its life. They will wrap up several more satellite activation procedures later this week before turning attention to the first images which are expected next week. GOES-J was built for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration under technical guidance and project management by the Goddard Space Flight Center.
