Emergency Response Notification During the Phone System Cutover

During the Labor Day weekend (6:00 pm Friday, August 31, 2001 - 11:59 pm Monday, September 3, 2001), the Greenbelt site will be going through a change in the phone system. During this time, the normal method to get emergency response for fires, medical emergencies, etc., will not work. On Center phones will not work. We request all personnel who do not need to be on Center that weekend to please stay home.

There is a phone line set up to contact the emergency console if necessary. The number is 301 474-7075. This number can be reached from cell phones or from working pay phones. The ROLM phones will not work, so it will not be accessible from them.

Certain outlying areas of the Greenbelt site ((Areas 100, 200, 300, 400 and Building 86) will not have fire alarms back to the Emergency Console at this time. The alarm will go off in the building, but the signal back to the Console is over the phone system, and will not work. If you are working in these areas over the weekend, we recommend you have a cellular phone with you to contact the console at 301 474-7075.

In the event you are on Center in any building but the ones listed above, and require medical assistance, we advise you to pull the fire alarm manual pull station. This will get an emergency response to you.

Normal Phone Services are unavailable from 6:00 p.m. on August 31, 2001, through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2001.
