Design for Strong Minds

What: DSM programs teach by making generally implicit cognitive processes and strategies explicit. Through a variety of specifically developed visual exercises with incrementally increasing levels of difficulty, DSM facilitates the ability to make goal specific selections of relevant factors. DSM provides a risk free, game like environment where participants can explore the development and intentional application of critical thinking skills, decision making, and incremental learning.

DSM training programs provide participants with instruction and experience to:

  • test specific cognitive processes,
  • prioritize six cognitive processes by deve;opmental order,
  • identify inferential terminology through visual representation,
  • model a reference frame based on inferential equivalency,
  • define operational requirements,
  • describe the relationship between previously developed cognitive skills and those currently addressed,
  • establish a relational hierarchy for systems thinking,
  • examine problem solving strategies with direct reference to the planned objective and specified conditions,
  • test the selected strategy against the defined objective,
  • evaluate the appropriateness of a selected strategy by comparing the actual outcome with the desired objective,
  • analyze mistakes in order to generate new strategies and improve probability of success.

When/Where: September 6, 13, 20 and October 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In Building 25, Room S28
Transportation from HQ will be arranged
