IFMP Core Financial Project Update

The Agency is well on their way in implementing the Integrated Financial Management Program (IFMP) Core Financial Module that will replace many existing aging and non-integrated financial and business systems throughout the Agency. The Core Financial module includes all accounting, budget execution, cost management, and procurement functions, such as purchasing. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is the Pilot Center and will roll out the Core Financial Module to the Centers in three waves. A breakdown for the waves and their go-live dates are as follows:

Wave I - includes (1) John Glenn Research Center (GRC) along with the Pilot Center, MSFC - October 2002.

Wave II - includes (1) NASA Headquarters, NMO at JPL, and HQ Operations Support organizations at the Goddard Space Flight Center to include the RFO, Logistics, and Headquarters Procurement, (2) Kennedy Space Center, (3) Johnson Space Center, and (4) Ames Research Center - February 2003.

Wave III - includes (1) Stennis Space Center, (2) Langley Research Center, (3) Dryden Flight Research Center and (4) Goddard Space Flight Center - June 2003.

The Headquarters Core Financial Project Conference Room Pilot (CRP) effort has begun! The CRP is one of the important activities that must be completed as part of the Implementation Phase. It is the process where the Center specific requirements and configuration, identified during the Understanding Phase, are validated. The CRP effort began with the development of scenarios, data, and expected results. Created through a combined effort of the Implementation Team and NASA Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), these items will help ensure that the Core Financial Module will properly handle the Center's unique requirements. The CRP effort started on February 22, 2002 and will be completed on April 30, 2002. Upon successful completion of the CRP effort, the Implementation Team will move into System Integration Testing (SIT). SIT is where the system is tested from end to end and includes the testing of interfaces to and from the Core Financial Module.
