Volunteers Needed for Robotic Competition

The TEAMS program is gearing up for its 2001-2002 Competition and we need your help. This year's competition will take place on Thursday, May 2 at the Goddard Visitor Center. The program has grown significantly since last year with over 300 middle school students representing over 30 teams from schools throughout Maryland.

The theme for this year's competition is Team Table-Tennis. Regular table-tennis but with 100 ping-pong balls in play and 3 robots per team working together to fling, sling, throw, kick, dump, or otherwise hurl ping-pong balls into the opposing team's side of the table. The team with the most ping-pong balls in their opponent's half of the field at the end of a game wins.

If you have an hour to spare or want to hang around all day, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved as a referee, team assistant, playing field technician, information desk helper, tournament scheduler, lunch room helper, etc. To sign-up or to learn more about the program contact Ron Erwin, Technology Education Specialist, at 6-7504 or click here for the pdf of the other team organizers.
