Mark Your
Calendars --- Celebrate Goddard Day 2002 Scheduled for July 11,
2002
As part of GSFC's
on-going effort to build an organizational climate in which employees
respect, appreciate and value individual differences, the GSFC Diversity
Council is reinstating "Celebrate Goddard Day", the last
of which occurred in 1998. The theme is "Celebrate Goddard
Day -- Appreciating the Accomplishments of our Diverse Workforce"
in line with the recently released 3-year Diversity Strategic Plan
(http://diversity.gsfc.nasa.gov/div_council.html).
This year's event has been expanded to a celebration of the accomplishments
due to the diversity of the workforce and will also have a directorate
focus. A Keynote speaker, panel sessions and video showings will
occur throughout the day to demonstrate how utilizing the diversity
of the workforce has resulted in better solutions and how being
inclusive has led to a better product. Various foods, craft and
directorate booths will be set up, as well as booths by the GEWA
clubs, and entertainment will be provided to showcase the diversity
of various cultures.
Because of Center
Director Al Diaz's commitment to diversity, the date has been changed
from a previous advertised date to allow for his participation.
Subcommittees have been formed and all directorates are represented
on the Planning committee. If you would like to participate on the
Planning committee or volunteer in other ways, please contact Merle
Robbins at 6-7819 or by email at: mrobbins@pop200.gsfc.nasa.gov
