Prof Frank Wu Begins Asian Heritage Month Activities

In recognition of Asian Heritage Month the Goddard Chinese American Club and the Advisory committee for Asian Pacific American Employee invites you to attend, "Beyond Black and White: Civil Rights in the New Millennium." This presentation will be given by Professor Frank H. Wu on Wednesday, May 8 at 11:30 in the Recreation Center.

Frank H. Wu is Law Professor at Howard University, Washington, D.C. He has written more than 200 articles that appeared in periodicals such as the Washington Post, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, Toronto Star, Atlanta Journal & Constitution, Chronicle of Higher Education, National Law Journal, Legal Times, Nation, Progressive, and Asian Week. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, Lehrer Newshour, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, BET, BBC Radio, and Voice of America. His co-authored textbook "Race, Rights and Reparation: Law and the Japanese American Internment," was published in spring 2001. He writes for A. Magazine, the largest Asian American interest periodical.

May 15 Asian Pacific American Heritage Luncheon Celebration: Employees are invited to join in a "Luncheon to Celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month" sponsored by the Advisory Committee for Asian Pacific American Employees.

Time: 11:30-1:00 p.m
Where: Recreation Center
Cost: $11.00 per person
Keynote Speaker: Al Diaz- GSFC Center Director
Entertainment: Indian Traditional Dance

May 16 Asian Pacific American Heritage Cultural Presentation: Entertainment for this event will be provided by: Vietnamese Youth Group of Virginia, Traditional Long Dress Fashion Show and Dance
Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko USA (Japanese Drum Performance)
Thai Traditional Dance
There will be a free sampling: "Taste of Asia" tasting of a variety of foods from different Asian countries.
