Supervisors
Training on New PD Tool Begins Monday
Goddard supervisors
and managers will have the opportunity to train on the new automated
Position Description Management (PDM) system during 1 1/2 hour sessions
scheduled on Mon., Tues., Wed,. June 17-19. Goddard is the PDM lead
and Pilot Center for the Agency and will be the first to roll out
this Integrated Financial Management (IFM) Program module. PDM automates
the current position description (PD) writing process and enables
human resources staff, supervisors and managers to create PDs more
easily and speedily. It also dramatically reduces the amount of
time it currently takes to prepare PDs. Once Goddard goes "live"
with the new system, this will be the single tool supervisors and
managers will use to create or edit PDs. PDM will be implemented
at all NASA Centers through the end of August.
The automation
of the PD writing and editing process does not replace the needed
human interaction and collaboration between the HR specialist and
the supervisor or manager initiating the PD. This relationship and
the classifier's experience are paramount to the success of the
PDM tool.
Three training
days have been reserved for managers and supervisors to gain hands-on
experience previewing and using the new tool. The short (1 hour/15
minute) sessions will be held on Monday, June 17, Tuesday June 18
and Wednesday June 19 at Greenbelt, building 1, Room 002, according
to the following time schedule:
(Same session repeated five times daily)
Session 1
8:00-9:15
Session 2 9:45-11:00
Session 3 2:00-1:15
Session 4 1:45-3:00
Session 5 3:30-4:45
Plans to deliver
remote training on Thursday, June 20 to Wallops, GISS and IV&V
are in progress. A hands-on session at Wallops is planned for June
27.
