Goddard in the News

Aqua: CNN, Space Daily and Spaceflight Now featured articles on the newly released images from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for the Earth Observing System instrument. The images are of the world's sea surface temperatures, an important characteristic in monitoring the status and changing conditions of our planet.

EO1: Comisverse and United Press International featured articles about the successful testing of the land imaging instruments aboard NASA's Earth-Observing 1 satellite, which demonstrated an ability to identify surface objects accurately. NASA and USGS scientists believe that the datasets will prove valuable to global land cover studies, ecosystem monitoring, mineral and petroleum prospecting, and agricultural crop assessment, among other potential applications.

NOAA-17: Spaceflight Now featured an article on the launching of NOAA-M. The satellite, now named NOAA-17 has sent back its first image of the Great Lakes. The NOAA-17 satellite will collect meteorological data and transmit the information to users around the world to enhance weather forecasting.
