on the newly released images from the Advanced Microwave Scanning
Radiometer for the Earth Observing System instrument. The images
are of the world's sea surface temperatures, an important characteristic
in monitoring the status and changing conditions of our planet.

Comisverse and United Press International featured
articles about the successful testing of the land imaging instruments
aboard NASA's Earth-Observing 1 satellite, which demonstrated an
ability to identify surface objects accurately. NASA and USGS scientists
believe that the datasets will prove valuable to global land cover
studies, ecosystem monitoring, mineral and petroleum prospecting,
and agricultural crop assessment, among other potential applications.
NOAA-17:
Spaceflight Now featured an article on the launching
of NOAA-M. The satellite, now named NOAA-17 has sent back its first
image of the Great Lakes. The NOAA-17 satellite will collect meteorological
data and transmit the information to users around the world to enhance
weather forecasting.
