Mark Your Calendars for July 11!

We are quickly approaching this year's 4th Annual Celebrate Goddard Day. In continuing with GSFC's on-going effort to build an organizational climate in which, employees respect, appreciate, and value individual differences, this year's Celebrate Goddard Day is sure bring awareness and is intended to educate employees on the celebration of workforce diversity and culture that exist at Goddard.

GSFC's Diversity Council is revitalizing this year's 4th Annual Celebrate Goddard Day with the theme, "Appreciating the Accomplishments of Our Diverse Workforce." This year's theme is the cornerstone of the recently released three-year Diversity Strategic Plan which can be viewed at: http://diversity.gsfc.nasa.gov/div_council.html.

The Celebrate Goddard Day Planning Committee has put together an outstanding and dynamic schedule for this year's events! The week of diversity, educational awareness begin Tuesday, July 9, 2002 and Wednesday, July 10 with the mid-day, lunchtime viewing of diversity-related videos and movies in Buildings 1 (Room E100E) and 8 (Room 309). Additional videos and movies that concentrate on diversity awareness will continue throughout the week with daily viewings beginning at 11:00 a.m. and concluding at 1:00 p.m.

Come join us for the big event on Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. on the Mall! Beginning at 9:30 a.m. will feature guest keynote speaker, Marcia Steele, a renowned motivational speaker, as she addresses cultural and diversity topics and issues. This day will include a discussion panel, Diversity karaoke and educational showcases that demonstrate how utilizing the diversity of the workforce has resulted in better solutions. Located on the Mall grounds, there will be directorate booths, multicultural craft vendors, GEWA clubs, live entertainment and food vendors with delicious and appetizing ethnic food. The Goddard Shuttle Bus will provide day-long services to and from the Mall. Accommodations for special needs individuals will also be provided.

Karaoke Participates

Organizations interested or are participating in Karaoke Diversity, an open microphone forum which allows organizations to express their endeavors or successes of workforce diversity efforts, are to provide their audio/visual requirements to Bruce Milam via email at mmilam@pop400.gsfc.nasa.gov by Tuesday, July 9.
