EOS: Sharp increase of global temperatures during the first half of the year was a featured article in the Atlanta Journal. The article quotes and refers to Dr. Jim Hansen of NASA's GISS who has studied, global temperature trends and says the expected emergence of a new El Nino warming episode in the Pacific Ocean could add to the increase in the temperatures.

A local television station in Cincinnatti featured a report about the recent NASA Goddard study led by Dr. Marshall Shepherd about the summer heat from major cities creating more summer rain over and downwind of major cities.

NOAA-17: Spaceflight.com featured an article about the successful initial testing of the NOAA-17 weather satellite. NASA and engineers performed a series of over 100 on-orbit verification tests since the June 24 launch. All instruments have been turned on and detailed analysis of data from the entire spacecraft continues with no anomalies identified.
