Ribbon Cutting
of Weather Processing Center at IV&V
The National Weather Service (NWS) in cooperation with NASA has
established critical backup facilities for its Advanced Weather
Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) network, the computer and
communications system responsible for the nation's weather forecasts
and warnings, at the NASA/WVU IV&V Facility in Fairmont, West
Virginia.
Last month a
ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially established the backup
Network Control Facility (NCF) and backup Master Ground Station
(MGS) as fully operational.
