Reorganization
of the Systems, Technology, and Advanced Concepts Directorate (STAAC)
Effective July
14, 2002, the second and final phase of the STAAC reorganization
was implemented at the Center. The functions and employees of the
remaining STAAC Divisions and Offices were realigned as follows:
STAAC's engineering
and technology commercialization functions have been realigned to
Code 500, where they have been reestablished in the Office of the
Patent Counsel, Code 503 and the Technology Commercialization Office,
Code 504. The technology program management functions have been
realigned to Code 400, where they have been reestablished as the
Earth Science Technology Office, Code 407 and the Aerospace Technology
Office, Code 408, both reporting to the newly established Technology
Management Program Office, Code 404. The New Opportunities Office
has been realigned to Code 101. Dr. George Alcorn has been reassigned
to Code 500 as the Assistant Director for Technical Standards Excellence.
Ancillary realignments within Codes 101, 400 and 500 have also been
incorporated into this reorganization. With the completion of this
reorganization, the STAAC Directorate has been disestablished.
In addition,
the titles of the Engineering Centers within the AETD have been
changed to Divisions.
