Effective July 14, 2002, the second and final phase of the STAAC reorganization was implemented at the Center. The functions and employees of the remaining STAAC Divisions and Offices were realigned as follows:

STAAC's engineering and technology commercialization functions have been realigned to Code 500, where they have been reestablished in the Office of the Patent Counsel, Code 503 and the Technology Commercialization Office, Code 504. The technology program management functions have been realigned to Code 400, where they have been reestablished as the Earth Science Technology Office, Code 407 and the Aerospace Technology Office, Code 408, both reporting to the newly established Technology Management Program Office, Code 404. The New Opportunities Office has been realigned to Code 101. Dr. George Alcorn has been reassigned to Code 500 as the Assistant Director for Technical Standards Excellence. Ancillary realignments within Codes 101, 400 and 500 have also been incorporated into this reorganization. With the completion of this reorganization, the STAAC Directorate has been disestablished.
