Viewing a Launch from the Causeway - In light of the events, which occurred on September 11, 2001, NASA Headquarters has established new security procedures for nominating and inviting NASA guests to view a Space Shuttle launch. Enhanced security measures at Kennedy for screening visitors and vehicles during Space Shuttle operations are now into effect.

As part of ensuring a safe environment for viewing shuttle launches, access to the causeway is prohibited. Causeway passes are not available to each Center for employee viewing as they were in the past. Launch transportation tickets to view a launch can be purchased from the Kennedy Visitor Center. CISCO Networking Academy - Crossland High School - Goddard Education Programs has received a request for volunteers to serve as coaches for the Cisco Networking Academy at Crossland High School in Temple Hills Maryland. Volunteers need not have specialized networking knowledge. The focus of this program will be the sharing of interpersonal and workplace communication skills young people will need to be successful in their future work. A half-day training session for volunteer coaches is planned on August 21 at Crossland High School. The program will begin in September 2002, with lessons provided online to assist the four coaches needed in their work with the students. Each team will work with a morning class made up of juniors and seniors taking networking classes. Team members will work with the students once or twice a month in sessions that last for an hour and a quarter. If you are interested or have additional questions, please call or email John DiTomasso, Director of TECH CORPS Maryland at 410-730-3071 or email: johndit@us.net.
