National
Family Health and Fitness Day
Take the last
weekend of September and spend it with your family to get/stay
fit and have fun! Don't worry if you can't find a community-sponsored
event. That isn't the point of this day. All you have to do is
get out, be with your families, and be active. You can take a
long walk around your neighborhood, go for a bike ride, hike on
a trail, play a game of basketball or kickball, find a charity
walk/race, go to the park and pack a healthy, nutritious picnic
lunch, or play a match of tennis. The opportunities are endless,
so choose something that the whole family will enjoy! Taking small
steps to spend time with your children will show them how easy
it is to spend time together and stay fit.
Stop by the
Fitness Center to pick up the September/October Fitness Center
Newsletter, The Health and Fitness Launch, which highlights some
local resources to help you get started on the path to fitness
with your families! Please feel free to consult the Fitness Center
staff (286-8404) if you would like information on starting a wellness
program. We're always happy to help you!
In addition,
Code 200 and the GSFC Health Unit staff invite you to bring a
lunch and join us in a series of health and wellness seminars.
The goal of these presentations is to ensure our personnel are
informed health care consumers.
Dr. Terrence
A. Bidnick will discuss the topic, Physical Exams and Health Screening:
Who, What, When, Where and Why on Mon. Sept. 16 from 12:00
