ES: Spaceflight
Now featured an article about the Iturralde Crater Expedition
2002 that will seek to determine if the unusual circular crater
was created by a meteor or comet. The 5-mile (8 kilometer) diameter
crater is located in an isolated part of the Bolivian Amazon. Dr.
Peter Wasilewski organized the expedition that will be led by
Dr. Tim Killeen of Conservation International and Dr. Compton
Tucker of Goddard will assist Dr. Killeen.
SS: NASA's
selection of TRW to build a next generation, a successor of the
Hubble Space Telescope was a top feature at Space.com, BBC
News, MSNBC.com, CNN.com, Dow Jones Report,
Sky and Telescope and Cosmiverse. The new telescope
will carry the name of James Webb Space Telescope, named after the
second NASA administrator James Webb. TRW of Redondo Beach, Calif.
will design and fabricate the observatory's primary mirror and spacecraft.
TRW also will be responsible for integrating the science instrument
module into the spacecraft as well as performing the pre-flight
testing and on-orbit checkout of the observatory.
In addition,

New York Times interviewed Bernard Seery, NGST project
manager. Space.com interviewed both Seery and NGST senior project
manager, Dr. John Mather.
