Threat
Warning System
The Homeland
Security threat warning system was raised this week to level "orange,"
or to the "high risk of terrorist attacks" level of
alert. Please be aware that there is no specific, identifiable
information relating to a threat against any specific target in
the United States. National authorities are in possession of little
information that you have not already heard in news broadcasts.
However, due to the 9/11 anniversary, and given the heightened
domestic threat change based on the receipt of increased nonspecific
overseas threat information, the FBI believes it is important
to enhance public safety by increasing the threat level.
The Security
Forces at Greenbelt and Wallops have been alerted to the increased
national threat level. We will continue to closely monitor our
security environment and employees will be notified of any changes
to existing protective measures.
Employees
are encouraged to:
Remain alert
and report suspicious activity and packages to the Security Force
(x911 or x6-8661 at Greenbelt; x911 or x1333 at Wallops).
For remote
facilities (i.e., IV&V, GISS, WSC), report to local law enforcement
authorities with follow-up data forwarded to the GSFC Security
Office at 301-286-7233.
