Some Facts to Remember:

-SEVERAL GODDARD EMPLOYEES DEPEND ON BLOOD PRODUCTS TO SUSTAIN LIFE
-EACH DONATION COULD POSSIBLY SAVE 3-4 LIVES
-EACH DONATION PRODUCES 7 DIFFERENT BLOOD PRODUCTS
-OUR AREA USES APPROXIMATELY 1,000 UNITS OF BLOOD DAILY

Most healthy persons at least l7 years of age can donate every eight weeks, with a minimum weight of 110 lbs. The process of giving blood is always under the supervision of a Medical Unit Supervisor. The procedure includes a medical check, actual donation, and some time for relaxation and refreshments. Please be sure to get sufficient rest the night before and eat a well balanced breakfast and lunch the day you donate. You never know whose life that you may help save.

You may not donate blood if you have spent more than 3 months in the UK (1990-1996); if you have spent more than 5 years in Europe (1980-present); or if you have spent more than 6 months on a military base in northern Europe (1980-1990) or southern Europe (1980-1996).

FAIR Act Inventory

All Federal agencies are required by the provisions of the Federal Activities Inventory Reform (FAIR) Act of 1998 to establish an annual inventory of commercial activities performed in the Agency. NASA Headquarters has now posted its 2002 FAIR Act Inventory list to the following website: http://competitivesourcing.nasa.gov Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) are also posted on the same website. Center Management encourages employees to check that source since it contains some background information which may be of interest to all.
