The potential threat of Hurricane Lili to the mission control
center at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas has made space
shuttle program managers move the launch date for mission STS-112
to no earlier than Monday, Oct. 7 between the hours of 2 p.m. to
6 p.m. EDT.
Since Hurricane
Lili made landfall well east of Houston, Texas, the Johnson Space
Center team has begun preparing for the Monday launch.
Atlantis will
carry six crewmembers one of which is former Goddard scientist Dr.
Piers Sellers. Sellers is making his spaceflight debut on STS-112
and will perform three space walks with co-mission specialist David
Wolf.
Goddard employees
in Greenbelt, may view the launch in the bldg 8, auditorium.
