MODIS Model Unveiled

Photo of MODIS model being unveiled

On Thursday, October 3, Raytheon formally presented the MODIS model to GFSC. The MODIS instrument has flown on both Terra and Aqua, flagship missions of the Earth Observing System. MODIS has provided unprecedented data to scientists worldwide. Earth scientists around the world use MODIS data to better understand the causes and effects of natural hazards such as floods, forest fires and hurricanes. This data helps people know where and when natural hazards occur, and can help mitigate their effects.
