Space and Cosmic Ray Physics Seminar

Who: Dr. L. Barbier from Goddard's Gamma Ray and Cosmic Ray Astrophysics Branch will discuss "Near Ultraviolet NIGHTGLOW and Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays."

PDM Training

Position Description Management (PDM) Training for Supervisors, Managers, and Administrative Officers is being offered on Monday, October 21. The 2-hour long sessions will be held at 8:30 am and 1:30 pm in Building 1, Room 002. Call x6-7918 for reservations. No training registration form is required.


Director's Colloquium

Who: Mr. Kevin Asbjörnson, pianist, composer and Yamaha artist will perform his Artistry of Leadership program. This program explores leadership as an art, integrating original, contemporary piano music. The experience offers us the opportunity to explore the importance and use of multiple intelligences and creative talents.

On Your Mark, Get Set and Go!

The 54th Intercenter 2-mile race is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 at 12 noon. The event will be held on Center as it has been in the past with the course beginning in back of building 3. All participants should complete a registration form which is available at: http://lshp.gsfc.nasa.gov/GROC/registration.html. NATO-RTO Lecture Series

What: NASA Ames Research Center is proud to once again host a NATO-RTO Lecture Series. This year's topic is "Applications, Concepts and Technologies for Future Tactical UAVs." The lecture Series is intended to facilitate development and evaluation of meaningful UAV system design (not the air vehicle itself) and application criteria and to provide guidance regarding future directions in tactical UAV system architectures, mechanization, and technologies to enhance overall force structure affordability. Emerging technologies and future systems concepts in concert with the existing experience base are presented. Pertinent system design considerations, trade-offs and alternatives for exploiting the full potential of UAVs will be addressed.

The 2002 Goddard Seminar Series on Race, Power and Privilege

What: Employees are invited to an in-depth learning experience for those who want to develop skills and perspectives helpful for managing change in the work setting leading to equity at all levels of function. During the seminars, the invited presenters, all experts in the domains of history, ethnography, law, and ethnic/racial/social dynamics, will discuss with seminar attendees and participants all aspects of the exploration of real and perceived concepts of race, power and privilege.

IS&T Colloquium

Who: Mr. John Siegel will discuss OMG's Model Driven Architecture. The presentation will explore how today's enterprise must deal with a multitude of platforms and connectivity paradigms. OMG's new Model Driven Architecture (MDA) unifies and simplifies this environment by defining software fundamentally at the model level, expressed in the standard Unified Modeling Language (UML).
