Earth Science

A video release of the MODIS view of Mt. Etna plume was broadcast on many national, cable and local television station across the country. NBC Nightly News and seven airings on CNN and Fox were among the e 50 television broadcasts for an estimated audience of 15 million. In addition, the web version of the report was featured in the New York Times.

The Philadelphia Inquirer featured an article on the increased rate of melting ice sheets in Greenland. Waleed Abdalati of Goddard is quoted in the article describing the location of where the coastal thinning is occurring in Greenland and explaining how NASA studies can help with predicting and understanding the changes.

Space Science

Recent solar activity captured by SOHO was featured on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. The images showed solar prominences as long as 50 Earths stacked end to end.
