Acupressure Therapy Workshop

On November 12, 2002, the Goddard Health Unit presents an Acupressure Therapy Workshop. The presenter will be Robert A. Rifkin, Director of the White Flint Medical and Natural Healing Center in Rockville, Maryland.

Dr. Rifkin is a graduate of the Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Bloomington, Minnesota. He has post-graduate education in Acupuncture, Herbology/Homeopathy, Spinal/Extremity Rehabilitation, Disability and Impairment Rating and Nutrition. Dr. Rifkin is licensed in the State of Maryland in Chiropractic and Physical Therapy. He is a member of numerous professional organizations.

In this seminar, Dr. Rifkin shows how acupressure is effective for treating many different health problems. This ancient Chinese hands-on therapy approach claims to enhance organ vitality, reduce musculoskeletal pain, and improve overall well-being. Participants will learn techniques that can reduce or eliminate headaches, neck pain and back pain.

Who: Dr. Marilee Goldberg Adams, Co-founder and preside of InquiryInc, a consulting, training and educational organization in Pennington, New Jersey will provide methodologies and processes to make a practical difference in fulfilling organizational missions.

Mars and Venus in the Workplace Workshop

What: The GSFC Women's Advisory Committee is sponsoring a special workshop entitled "Mars and Venus in the Workplace." As a result from attending this presentation, you will understand the differences between men and women in the workplace and will be able to identify and respond to various business situations in a manner that earns greater respect and promotes increased cooperation. By learning the many ways men and women misunderstand and misinterpret each other in the workplace, you will be able to reduce unnecessary conflict and frustration and craft a working environment that will stimulate productivity and become a source of fulfillment.

This presentation offers information, practical advice and skills in the following areas:
1) Martian and Venusian Communication Differences
2) Solving Problems Martian and Venusian Style
3) Coping with Stress on Mars and Venus
4) Interpreting Martian Rules and Venusian Manners
5) How Martians and Venusians Promote Themselves
6) Scorings Points on Mars and Venus

The workshop presenters are Lori W. Hollander, LCSW-C, BCD and Robert J. Hollander, JD, LCSW-C.

IS&T Colloquium

Who: Cherry Murray, Physical Sciences Research Vice President, Lucent Technologies will discuss "Innovative Solutions for Next-Generation Communications Systems." Dr. Murray will discuss what the present economic and technical drivers of commercial communication networks are, some technical challenges that need to be overcome, and some of the current Bell Labs physical science and systems research in next generation communications networks including all-optical networks, ultra-broadband wireless data networks, and science in support of networks even farther in the future.

What: The Blacks In Government GSFC/WFF Chapter invites Goddard employees to a lunchtime fish fry. The menu includes: 2 pieces of fish, potato salad, bread, soda and green beans. Tickets for the luncheon are $6.00
