Goddard Celebrates America Recycles Day

For the sixth year, GSFC will recognize America Recycles Day (ARD). A Center event will be held on Wednesday, November 20th in the Bldg. 8 auditorium from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Featured events will be recycled content products from store stock vendors, property management will auction five computer systems at 11:30 (you must come earlier to preview and register as a buyer), a recycled craft workshop, and there will be Center recycling exhibits and information. We will have very special guests from the Goddard Child Development Center with their art work on display. We will also be taking food donations for the Harvest for the Hungry program.

For other national and agency ARD event information, please visit www.americarecyclesday.org, and NASA's Principal Center is sponsoring a NASA Recycles logo. Here is a message from them:

The Recycling and Affirmative Procurement (RAP) Principal Center is sponsoring a NASA Recycles logo contest to Celebrate America Recycles Day November 15th, 2002. Please distribute this announcement at your Center. NASA recycled over 17,000,000 lbs. of materials in FY 2001! Let's continue working towards NASA's goal of 35% Reduction in Solid Waste by 2010. Design a NASA logo to encourage waste reduction at NASA Installations. Any NASA or NASA Contract Support personnel can enter! Send entries electronically to Shannah.Trout-1@ksc.nasa.gov Entries due November 13th, 2002. The winner will be announced November 15th, America Recycles Day 2002.

The logo contest winner will receive a free Swiss made ReWATCH. This watch is made out of recycled aluminum. This logo will be used to promote NASA's recycling program throughout the year.
