American
Cancer Society's 26th Annual Great American Smokeout!
On Thursday,
November 21, 2002, join the NASA GSFC Fitness Center as they participate
in the Great American Smokeout, which will give smokers a day
to focus on starting anew as smoke-free, healthy adults. The promise
of a life free of addiction to tobacco and nicotine has encouraged
many smokers to join the promotion, and prove to themselves that
they can live one day, and the rest of their lives, without cigarettes.
Did you know
that smokers are twice as likely as non-smokers to suffer from
a heart attack? The risk for developing many diseases & health
conditions dramatically decreases if you stop smoking. Smoking,
along with lack of physical activity, are major risk factors for
developing cardiovascular disease, and are also among the most
modifiable. It's up to you to live a healthier life, and you can
do it!
The Goddard
Fitness Center will be offering "Kick The Stick"
goody bags on November 21, 2002. Each bag will contain information
to help you quit smoking, as well as some neat treats to reward
you for your efforts. There will also be an evening abdominals
exercise class in the Fitness Center to work those nicotine cravings
away!
Don't smoke,
but know someone who does? Bring in your buddy or collect information
for him or her, and make the pledge to be a source of support
to help your friend quit smoking. Visit the Fitness Center for
further details.
On Thursday,
November 21, 2002, make the commitment to KICK THE STICK!!
