During the week of October 28, the NASA Goddard Flying Club's Doug Ilg and Tom Paradis organized the 13th Annual Wings of Warmth (WoW) charity drive, a collection of warm clothing, non-perishable foods, and usable toys from the employees at Goddard, the Maryland Aviation Administration, World Bank Flying Club, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and College Park Airport.

The WoW airlifted 2134 lbs of goods on Saturday, November 2nd from the Tipton Airport to the Hagerstown Salvation Army. A total 15 small general aviation aircraft made 16 sorties (flights) to Hagerstown. All of the aircraft completed their flights and returned home safely and without incident. Members of the NASA Goddard Flying Club flew several other aircraft from College Park Airport. Those Goddard participants included Doug Ilg (flying his Grumman Tiger), Bob Spagnuolo and John Croft (Piper Arrow), Jim Metzger (Piper Archer) and Dr. John Thurber (Piper Warrior) to mention a few.

All of the pilots were elated to have decent flying weather, an opportunity to participate, and completed the day feeling that they had contributed to a worthwhile project and provided a helping hand to those less fortunate.
