In
observance and in celebration of reaching a century of flight in
2003, Goddard News will feature historical NASA flight tidbits.
This
week in history: On December 7, 1972, Apollo 17 was launched
to its sixth and final moon landing in the Apollo program. The Apollo
17 mission included geological surveying and sampling of materials
and surface features in a pre-selected area of the Taurus-Littrow
region, deploying and activating surface experiments, and conducting
inflight experiments and photographic tasks during lunar orbit and
transearth coast. For
