Information Science and Technology Colloquium

Who: Dr. James Hendler, Professor at the University of Maryland, will talk about "The Semantic Web: Is It Rocket Science?" The World Wide Web is often referred to as a web of information, but is it? When you ask a query on the web you get pointers to pages, not answers. If you're looking for something beyond text, you're often unable to find it. The next generation of the Web, already in the works, aims to fix this by making more of the content on the web "understandable" to the programs that help us find, filter, and use what is out there.

When/Where: Jan 15, at 3:30 p.m. in the Bldg. 3 Goett Auditorium followed by a Q&A session. Refreshments at 3:30 p.m. courtesy of GEWA.

When/Where: Tuesday, January 21, from 2 - 3 p.m. in the Building 3 Goett Auditorium. There will also be a raffle of one free day of West Lake training classes to one lucky attendee.
