Health Risk Assessment - Employee Information Session scheduled Tuesday, January 21

Goddard's Safety, Environmental and Security Office (Code 205) is about to conduct a health risk assessment as a result of concerns voiced by employees who reside in the Building 7/10//15/29 complex. Some employees within the facility perceive an elevated incidence of cancer within the complex. Due to employee concerns, further analysis of the buildings and a look at the population will help us determine whether there is sufficient information to make a correlation to a greater than normal cancer rate within the complex.

All of the considerable historical building and process safety assessment information including routine industrial hygiene air monitoring, facility hazard inspections, employee medical surveillance, and the recently completed activity adjacency study, indicates that the complex is safe.

To lay out the plan for the risk assessment, and answer any questions you may have on this process, we have scheduled an employee information session on January 21, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Building 8 Auditorium. Employees from Buildings 7/10/15/29 are likely to have the most interest in this meeting, but anyone is welcome to attend. Our Medical Director, Dr. Terrence Bidnick will discuss the plan, provide information on the types of data he needs and other aspects of the assessment, as well as answer your questions.
