Update on Increased Security Measures

The increased security measures in place since January 15 will be scaled down effective Monday, February 3. Vehicle inspections will be discontinued for the time being, and most traffic barriers will be moved away from the gates by late Monday afternoon. Once the barriers are moved, employees will again be able to turn left from Goddard Road onto Aerobee Road (first left inside the Main Gate). Aerobee Road will be reopened at Goddard Road to allow access to the Building 9 parking lot for obtaining services from the GSFC Security Office (GSO). However, access to the GSO parking lot by driving behind the Building 3/13/14 Complex will not be available. Security Force officers will continue to touch badges. The processing of visitors (including individuals picking up temporary badges) will occur at the Visitor Center from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday (February 3 and 4) only. On Wednesday (February 5), visitor processing will moved to the Main Gate (Building 9) at all times. The few problems experienced during this period of enhanced security offer valuable lessons learned that have and will help improve our security protocols. The continuing cooperative spirit demonstrated by employees is appreciated. Questions may be referred to the GSO at x6-7233.
