After months of planning and some last minute scheduling, the GMS planning committee pulled together one of the best sym-posiums to date. Nearly 200 Goddard employees and members of industry attended the two-day event, which took place March 25 and 26 at the Greenbelt Marriott.

The first day keynote speaker NASA Associate Administrator for Aerospace Technology Jerry Creedon addressed the audience with his talk "Technology: The Tie That Binds" and second day keynote speaker NASA Space Architect Gary Martin discussed "NASA's Long Term Strategy for Space."

In observance and in celebration of marking a century of flight in 2003, Goddard News will feature historical NASA flight tidbits throughout the year. This Week in History: Gemini 3 was the first crewed Earth-orbiting spacecraft of the Gemini series launched on March 23, 1965. Astronauts Virgil "Gus" Grissom and John Young were the pilots. Some the primary objectives were to evaluate the two-man Gemini design, the worldwide tracking network, the orbit attitude and maneuver system, the control reentry flight path and the landing port.
