Heart of the Milky Way." Dr. Wang and colleagues have conducted
first large-scale arcsecond-resolution X-ray survey of the Galactic
central ridge, using the Chandra Observatory. This survey provides
important information on the complex interplay among stars, gas,
dust, gravity and magnetic fields in the unique environment of the
Galactic center region. Dr. Wang will review the results from the
survey and other related observations and discuss their implications.
