Celebrate Goddard
Day is quickly approaching. Celebrate Goddard Day is a time for
appreciating the accomplishments of Goddard's Diverse workforce.
Please take note and plan to attend the following events!
June 24th - Movie Day
Come and have popcorn and enjoy two movies have been selected in
an effort to raise diversity awareness. These movies reflect on
multiple divisions of diversity:
"Antwone
Fisher" Bldg. 3 Goett Auditorium 10:00 a.m.
"A Beautiful Mind" Bldg. 8 Auditorium 1:00 p.m.
June 25th - Drama Day
All NASA Goddard personnel are invited to bring their lunch and
enjoy a live performance entitled, "Invisible Diversity Conflicts:
"The Role of Emotional Intelligence" presented by Orlando-Ward
& Associates, Inc. of San Diego, CA.
This event will
begin 12:30 p.m. in the Building 3 Goett Auditorium. This lively
interactive show will illustrate typical diversity assumptions,
biases and stereotypes, which point out subtle yet all too real
behaviors that occur in the workforce. The entertaining scenarios
will include introductory discussions as well as examine the main
messages and concepts of diversity within each scene.
June 26th
- "Celebrate Goddard" Day
9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on the Mall (Grassy area between Bldg. 8 and
Bldg. 3) This is the day you don't want to miss! Come out and enjoy!
This day will include:

the Center Director Al Diaz and Deputy Director Bill Townsend, along
with the new Assistant Administrator for Equal Opportunity Programs
(EOP), Dr. Dorothy Hayden-Watkins.

The "Goddard
Bee" Trivia Game - Are you a repository for Goddard
and diversity trivia? Well sign up to play our game! The first 15
employees who contact Ginny Thompson (x6-0569) or Sue
Pierpoint (x6-8058), will participate in the Goddard Bee Trivia
Game on June 26th. A variety of questions about Goddard and diversity
will be asked. The game format is similar to that of a spelling
bee, get the question right and you move to the next round! The
last person standing will be presented with the Goddard Bee trophy.

Cup Competition
- 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Bldg. 8 Auditorium - The directorate offices
(including Code 100 staff offices), will compete to express their
stories of "success through diversity" in an open forum.
The method used to share these stories is entirely up the directorate
or Code 100 staff offices. The story can be shared as an essay,
viewgraph presentation, movie, skit, poem, dance, song, painting,
sculpture, speech, etc. Everyone at GSFC participates on very
diverse teams that are successful in a challenging aerospace environment.
This is the time to share these success stories and increase the
awareness of the richness that diversity add to NASA teams. More
