NASA
Scholarship Fund Awarded to Goddard Dependents
Two Goddard
employees' dependents were awarded by the NASA College Scholarship
Fund, Inc. The scholarships are given to qualified dependents of
NASA and former NASA employees.
The scholarships
are established from the direct result of a substantial unsolicited
gift offered by the noted Pulitzer Prize winning author, James Michener.
Other contributions have been made by the Freedom Forum to honor
Shuttle crewmembers and the JSC Chapter of the NASA Alumni League
and contributions through the Combined Federal Campaign.

Berendena daughter
of Dennis VanderTuig, Code 450 will be entering Calvin College,
Grand Rapids, MI in the fall to major in biology. She received A's
throughout high school, except for four semester B's. She was enrolled
in numerous honors and advanced placement math and science classes.
She has an SAT score of 1580 and plans to major in Biology at Calvin
College in Grand Rapids, Michigan (her parents' alma mater). She
has numerous academic honors including National Merit Finalist,
first place in a NASA Student Involvement Program Journalism Competition,
selected for County and State Choruses, Piano Guild Auditions National
Winner, awards for acting in high school Shakespeare Festivals,
and National Honor Society. She is also notable for leading in school
activities including librarian for Madrigal Singers, founding member
of an acapella singing group, Treasurer and Vice President of the
Shakespeare Club and assistant director of "Winter's Tale",
and Captain of the Sailing Club.

Daniel

Daniel KU, son
of Goddard employee, Dr. Jentung KU, Code 545 graduated in
June. He received A's throughout high school, except for three semester
B's. He was enrolled in numerous honors and advanced placement math
and science classes. He has an SAT score of 1580 and has entered
the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD to major in Engineering. He has
numerous academic honors including first place in the National Merit
Finalist, Finalist in a Distinguished Scholars Program, first place
in a speech contest, first place in piano in a Music Festival, and
Scholar Athlete Award. He is involved in numerous in-school activities
including research project in Polymers, Calculus tutor, Physics
Team, Varsity Volleyball and Christian Fellowship.
