Dr. J Marshall
Shepherd research meteorologist and Deputy Project Scientist
on the Global Precipitatiion Measurement mission which is currently
in formulation, gave this week's 'Space Chats' presentation. Dr.
Shepherd's research on the phenomenon of "urban heat-islands"
creating more summer rain over and downwind of major cities kept
the audience intrigued.

the latest findings in space and earth research. The presentations
will be held at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday evening this summer at
the Goddard Visitor Center.
Everyone is
invited and encouraged to attend the next presentation that will
be given by Ms. Lisa Mazzuca, operations servicing mission
liaison who will discuss the recent science and future plans for
the Hubble Space Telescope on August 14. Please share with
your family and friends, as well as the public. Space Chats is current
