'Next Space Chats'

On Thursday, August 28, Dr. James Garvin will present Mars Lives - The Story of a Planet that May Be Alive!

NASA has embarked on a bold mission to search our celestial neighbor for evidence for life, either in the distant past, recent times or now. Missions to Mars are just gaining momentum and the findings of the latest space probes are quite revealing. Current and future missions offer the potential for significant new discoveries.

Dr. Garvin has served as NASA's lead scientist for Mars Exploration for the past three years. For 15 years prior to this assignment, he was a researcher at the Goddard Space Flight Center exploring not only Mars, but aspects of Iceland and the Oceanic islands, focusing on impact cratering and sedimintology. Recently he led the Next Decade Planning Team for NASA.

While the events are free, registration is required. For more information about Space Chats or to register for the first event, visit the Goddard home page at http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov and click on 'Space Chats.'
