WebTADS to Replace OMNI November 30

Training and transition activities set for September through November

GSFC will transition from OMNI to the Agency's new standard time and recording system, WedTADS, on November 30th as a necessary prerequisite for the NASA and OPM ePayroll initiative. This change will standardize time and attendance systems across NASA, and allow the Agency to move towards implementing a comprehensive, multi-component personnel and payroll system that includes payroll, time recording, personnel management, and labor costing.

This change will not greatly affect most GSFC employees using OMNI, who will continue to enter their time electronically, albeit in a new system. The project will offer web-based training in October and November on how to enter time in WebTADS in order to prepare the average GSFC employee for this change.

Since WebTADS supports wage-grade employees' schedules, they will enter time electronically in the new system. In addition to the web-based training on how to use the system, the project will support this transition by providing additional support to POCs and supervisors of wage-grade employees.

Timekeepers in OMNI will become Points of Contact (POCs) in WebTADS, meaning they will assist users in the transition and in their use of the system. This assistance includes setting up time schedules, assisting wage-grade employees, and helping users overcome time entry problems. Due to their role as the frontline support for their business units, the project will provide a kick-off briefing and instructor-led training for these key users.

The primary change for supervisors is that they will be required to approve their employees' timecards electronically (rather than in paper form). In preparation for this change, supervisors are also invited to the kick-off briefing (see dates and times below) and will be provided instructor-led training on how to perform their role in the system.

Summary of the WebTADS transition and preparation schedule:

September 8-11, Train the Trainer - The WebTADS lead developers from Marshall will train about 7 GSFC POCs to become trainers. These trainers will train the GSFC supervisors and other POCs during the month of October.

September 16, 17, and 25th WebTADS Kick-Off for POCs and Supervisors (participants need only attend one session) - these sessions will provide POCs and Supervisors with a general background on WebTADS and specific training on how to communicate this transition to other employees. This session does not include system training.

September 29 to October 31, WebTADS Training for Points of Contact and Supervisors - POCs and Supervisors will select one two-hour WebTADS training session during this period. This is instructor-led, hands-on classroom training will cover: entering time, performing prior period adjustments, setting up work schedules for employees, and completing electronic approvals.

October 27 - November. 26, WebTADS Web-Based Training for all employees - GSFC employees will be given a website address to take the WebTADS overview, and will be expected to complete this training prior to November 26. In addition, Points of Contact will provide WebTADS user reference guides and quick reference guides to all employees who will use WebTADS. During this period, POCs will be available to answer WebTADS-related questions from employees and Supervisors.
