Space
and Cosmic Ray Physics Seminar
What:
Dimitris Vassiliadis, Universities Space Research Association
and Interplanetary Physics Branch at Goddard. Mr. Vassiliadis will
discuss, 'Modeling the Dynamics of the Relativistic Electron Flux
in Earth's Outer Radiation Belt' and will review the acceleration
and loss of the high-energy electron population that occurs in a
variety of processes, which are continuously modulated by the solar
wind and IMF. Estimates of the long-term activity are an important
element of space weather and in particular LWS. On the other hand,
the flux dynamics during individual storms are key to understanding
the acceleration and trapping processes.
When/Where:
Monday, October 6 at 4:30 p.m., University of Maryland, Computer
and Space Sciences Building in room 2400. Tea and cookies will be
from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For free parking
please park in lot DD or anywhere on levels 1-2 in lot B (the big
parking garage) after 4.00 pm. Make sure that you park in a spot
WITHOUT a parking meter.

All Employees and visitors with a Goddard badge are welcome to hear
Scott Hull and Josephine San, Goddard's Guidance, Navigation and
Control Branch present on 'Orbital Debris Mitigation - Safe Disposal
Planning Begins at Concept Design.' NASA policy requires that spacecraft
designs allow for limiting their
impact both during and after the mission. This seminar focuses on
the factors involved in the selection of a disposal method and the
planning needed to successfully achieve disposal.
When/Where:
Tuesday, October 07 in the bldg 3 Goett Auditorium at 1 p.m.

that was recognized as a best practice by the federal government
and adopted by jurisdictions both in the US and abroad. This presentation
will provide a brief overview of the emergence of accessible web
design standards and accessible web complaints that led to Section
508. It will also provide an overview of the current federal web
design standards and their indirect impact on State laws and policies.
State activities regarding adoption of Section 508 accessible web
will be discussed as well as international activities such as the
current United Nations discussion for accessible web design in a
proposed treaty on rights of persons with disabilities.
