Wings of Warmth - Accepting Charity Donations Food, Toys and Used Clothing

The NASA Goddard Flying Club will be accepting donations of new and used clothing, canned goods, non-perishable foods, and usable toys for the benefit of the needy people in the mid-Atlantic region.

Bring your donations to our self-service collection station at Goddard in the big parking lot west of Bldg 8 daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon thru Fri from November 3 to November 7, 2003. Look for signs. Tax deduction receipts will be available.

Members of the Flying Club plan to fly (or drive) all donations to the Washington County Salvation Army in Hagerstown, MD on the morning of Saturday, November 8. Participants should gather at the Ft. Meade Tipton Airfield for loading and departure at approximately 10 AM. All pilots and other members are encouraged to participate.

The Goddard Dance Club

New 2-month dance class series start Wednesday, November 5, 2003. The Goddard Dance Club is offer classes in Basic Ballroom Dancing featuring Triple Swing and Tango, Wednesdays 7:30 to 9:30 PM. The price is $60.00 for this set of two-hour lessons. All classes are held in the Building 8 Auditorium. Goddard Basketball League Preparing for Upcoming Season - New Teams Welcome!

The Goddard Basketball League is preparing for the upcoming season, and would like to extend an invitation to any new teams to join the league. The league is open to all men and women civil servants and contractors working at least half time on a NASA contract, and/or their spouse, siblings, or children.

The games are played in the gyms in the local area on Wednesday nights, and have referees and scorekeepers. All skill levels are represented on the various teams, and the games are competitive, but fun. Interested teams should contact:

Organizational Change

Effective October 5, 2003, the NASA Independent Verification and Validation Program Office was established within the Office of the Director, and designated as Code 180. Mr. Nelson Keeler continues as Director of the Office, at 304-367-8201. The NASA IV&V function was previously located in Code 300.
