New Academic Center at Capitol College to House Space Operation Institute

Al Diaz speaks of another ground breaking more than 40 years ago.  

"Why is NASA at Capitol College," asked Al Diaz, his opening remarks of the ground-
breaking and 20 year celebration for Capitol College ceremony held, Oct. 29 on the Laurel campus. The occasion was the official groundbreaking for the multi-million dollar William G. McGowan Academic Center.

"NASA is 45 years old and just down the road 44 years ago there was a groundbreaking for Building one at Goddard Space Flight Center," said Diaz. He added that today there are 33 building and thousands of employees that come to work each day. His remarks then focused on the need for a Capitol College with 25 percent of the scientists at Goddard eligible for retirement.
