Next Friday's
Space Chats Examines Cosmic Matter

Sure, we're
all star stuff, but exactly how did star stuff come to be? Join
Dr. James Lochner as we explore how the cosmic origins of the chemical
elements that make up life reflect a variety of events that take
place in the universe at the next Space Chats on Friday, November
14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Goddard Visisitor Center. Lochner will
trace their origins from the big bang, stellar evolution, supernovae
and cosmic rays. He will discuss these processes of element formation,
their effect on chemical composition of the universe, and how we
determine the composition of the Universe. We'll see how our existence
is connected to these elements and to their cosmic origin.
Dr. Lochner is an astrophysicist with Universities Space Research
Association working in the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics
at NASA/Goddard. He directs the education program for the that Lab,
and gives numerous educator workshops throughout the year.
