One NASA Workshop - Expanding the Knowledge and Understanding of the NASA Vision

The workshop continues in the afternoon with breakout sessions co-led by Agency leaders from NASA Headquarters and member of GSFC's senior management team. These sessions are designed to increase employee understanding of various Agency initiatives. Breakout sessions will be held on the NASA Engineering and Safety Center, the NASA Shared Services Center, Information Systems, Human Capital Planning, and Project Management. Each session will be begin at 2 p.m. and will repeat at 3:15 p.m.

One NASA Breakout Discussions - Session 1

NASA Shared Services Center
Location: Goett Auditorium (bldg. 3)
Facilitators: Ken Newton (Code ADI-1) and Nancy Abell / Sandy Buffalano (GSFC)
Description: The Agency is proposing consolidation of “transactional” services to leverage efficiencies and adoption of one approach. Services include specific aspects of procurement, human resources, information systems and others.
Project Management
Management Conf. Center (bldg. 8)
Facilitators: Sherry Buschmann (Code AE) and Dolly Perkins (GSFC)
Description: The latest information regarding rewrite of NPG 7120 to reflect adoption of a new set of principles for managing projects across the Agency.
Information Systems
Location: Bldg. 26, room 210
Facilitators: Patricia Dunnington (Code AO) and Linda Rosenberg (GSFC)
Description: Update on plans for Agency level information technology and services for 2004 and beyond.
Human Capital Planning
Location: Bldg. 26, room 212
Facilitators: Joan Peterson (Code FP) and Tom Paprocki (GSFC)
Description: Review of the Agency’s Human Capital Strategic Plan and Implementation Plan including competency management, workforce planning, mobility and rewards and recognition.
NASA Engineering and Safety Center
Location: Bldg. 8 Auditorium
Facilitators: Ralph Roe (LaRC) and Rick Obenschain (GSFC)
Description: Review of the NESC implementation, which is being formed, to ensure that NASA’s safety and mission assurance (SMA) organizations will have adequate technical expertise and resources for independent, in-depth, technical reviews of NASA’s programs.
