The Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), an internationally recognized facility, has the expertise to conceive missions; to design, develop, fabricate and test spacecraft; to operate flight projects; and to analyze data returned from the satellites. GSFC employees track and communicate with the many man-made satellites and Earth orbiting Vehicles. With activities and facilities stretching literally around the globe, Goddard has grown to a position of world eminence in a variety of scientific disciplines such as: Ultraviolet and infrared astronomy; solar physics; high energy astrophysics; planetology; climatology; and Earth sciences.
GSFC Speakers' Bureau (GSB), composed of professional personnel, represents the Center to civic, professional, educational, and other nonprofit or profit making organizations when engagements will not interfere with their primary responsibilities. Members of the GSB are exceptionally qualified to discuss both the general and specific aspects of NASA/GSFC programs. Every effort is made to provide an appropriate speaker for each request. However, speeches and presentations given by the GSB personnel are usually confined to the activities, programs, and related technology pertaining to this Center.
GSB provides speakers for the northeastern United States. These states include: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and the District of Columbia.
Speakers are provided, when available, at no charge. Speakers can not accept outside compensation or honorariums. Travel costs for speaking engagements requiring out-of-town travel and/or overnight accommodations, however, usually are borne by the requesting organization.
Speakers are available to discuss various topics, including:
NASA speakers can not participate in events of commercial nature or where any group has been unlawfully segregated or excluded on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Requests for speakers may be made calling 301.286.8956 or by writing to the Goddard Space Flight Center, Office of Public Affairs, Code 130, Greenbelt, Maryland 20771. Please include your phone number when sending written correspondence.
Only requests received six to eight weeks in advance of an event can be considered. This consideration allows adequate notice for our speakers, ensuring minimal disruption to their work schedules, and provides adequate advance notice to the requester on speaker availability.
